Carols from King's

on BBC Two England

It's a much loved tradition that, for many, heralds the true start of Christmas: the opening verse of Once in Royal David's City, angelically sung by a chorister of King's College Chapel, Cambridge. In this evocative service, the story of the Nativity is told through the words of the Bible and poems by Gerard Manley Hopkins, Richard Crashaw and Sister Mary Francis. Carols include Hark! The Herald Angels Sing; In the Bleak Midwinter, and God Rest Ve Merry, Gentlemen. Director David Kremer ; Producer James Whitbourn A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, from King's College, is today at 3pm on Radio 4 and tomorrow at 5pm on Radio 3
