Marlon Brando in Reflections in a Golden Eye

on BBC Two England

with Elizabeth Taylor
Brian Keith , Julie Harris continuing the season of films starring Marlon Brando Georgia: Southern USA - an army base in peacetime. Beneath the seemingly dull routine at the fort, a hothouse atmosphere of frustrations and obsessions exists between officers, their wives and the enlisted men. John Huston 's faithful version of Carson McCullers' ornate, yet rigorous novel, has a distinguished cast headed by Brando as the homosexual Major Penderton. His clipped, almost mannered, portrait beautifully conveys the inner tensions of the man whose obsession leads to the film's tragic climax.
