The First 25 Years
A quarter of a century ago this week Ronnie Scott launched what is still today London's only regular late night jazz venue. Neither he, nor the club's manager Pete King , had a master plan for the long-term future success of the club. 'We just started in a small place in Gerrard Street; it was just a place for us to play - local guys - me in particular! No one else would book us!'
In the company of John Junkin Ronnie looks back over the years and recalls anecdotes involving some of the personalities who have become legends in the club's unique reputation. Also included, from BBC archives, are performances at the club from Oscar Peterson , Sonny RoUins Sarah Vaughan , Dizzy Gillespie Kenny Clarke -
