Three hundred years to the day after Queen Mary's funeral in Westminster
Abbey, a concert of music associated with her life: the rejoicing surrounding her coronation, laments on her death and the solemn music of her funeral. Henry Purcell was organist at
Westminster Abbey in 1695 and played a large part in her funeral ceremony, though within the year he himself was laid to rest.
With anthems and songs by Purcell, funeral sentences by Morley and funeral marches by Paisible and Tollett. Introduced by Nicholas Kenyon.
