A Russian comedy of provincial life by Eugene Chirikov, in an English version by Basil Ashmore.
When Michael Orlov, an accomplished actor from Moscow, is forced to stay in a small town to recuperate, he takes over as director of the local amateur theatre raising. in the members, hopes and ambitions beyond their wildest dreams. For some it is a magical experience, but for others it threatens their accepted way of life.
