Paradise Found. Henri Matisse is regarded as among the pre-eminent artists of the early 20th century. The first part of this documentary explores Matisse's childhood in France, his early career in Paris, his struggles against poverty and illness, and his discovery of Mediterranean colour.

Matisse from his voyage to Morocco in 1912, through his paintings of women in Nice, to the crowning achievement of the chapel at Vence and his late work with cut-outs.
