A Gargantuan Pianistic Extravaganza

on BBC Two England

Twelve of the world's most famous pianists - Gina Bachauer , Stephen Bishop , Jorge Bolet , Shura Cherkassky , Jeanne-Marie Darre , Alicia de Larrocha, John Lill , Radu Lupu , John Ogdon , Garrick Ohlsson , Tamas Vasary and Balint Vazsonyi - with Victor Borge as compere, met together at the Royal Festival Hall for an exuberant evening of fun, frivolity and occasional seriousness.
In this programme, excerpts from this gala concert, given in aid of the International Piano Library, will include Beethoven's Turkish March for eight pianos, and a personal appearance of the last member of the Bach family, Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst Bach, who died in 1845, with two of his most talented pupils, in a piece for six hands and two long arms. Introduced by JOHN AMIS
