The North Sea

on BBC Two England

The Rhine - Romance and Rubbish Susannah York introduces the third of six programmes which look at our use and misuse of the North Sea.
One of the major pollution problems for the North Sea is the waste dumped into the rivers which feed it. Of these, the Rhine, the most industrialised and the biggest, is the worst.
Recent chemical accidents have highlighted not just the dangers, but also the attempts to tackle the problem of Europe's industrial waste. Executive producer JOHN MAPPLEBECK
