The Politics of the Bomb

on BBC Two England

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament is attracting more support now than at any time since the 1960s. In Holland and Germany anti-nuclear parties are winning sizeable votes at the polls. Their first declared priority is to try to stop the introduction of new American tactical nuclear weapons to Europe - weapons like the Cruise missile, which NATO claims is an essential part of the West's defence. Will the protesters convince Europe to ban the missiles? Steve Bradshaw reports for Newsweek from Britain and Germany on the new politics of nuclear protest.
