18: The Death of the Jazz Age
The so-called Jazz Age more or less ended with the Wall Street Crash of 1929 and the onset of economic depression. Coinciding with the deaths of iconic pioneering musicians like Pinetop Smith, Bix Beiderbecke and Bubby Miley , it created a sense of loss which was echoed by a feeling that twenties chordal progressions were all played out.
