Valerie Mairesse , Thérèse Liotard Agnes Varda's study of friendship between two women is not, she says, autobiographical but reflects my love for postcards, friendships, babies, work, songs, light ... and men '.
In 1962 Pauline, aged 17, sees in a shop a photograph of someone she used to know. It is Suzanne, now 22 and living with the photographer. The girls become friends again and although there will be a gap of ten years before they meet again by chance, their friendship becomes an important part of each of their lives.
