Glyndeboume Festival Opera's latest Handel production, conducted by William Christie , the Baroque specialist who had such a hit with Handel's Theodora in 1996. The cast is a feast of Glyndebourne singers: Anna Caterina Antonacci stars in the title role of Rodelinda, the deposed Queen of Lombardy; with countertenor Andreas Scholl as her husband, King Bertarido; Louise Winter as his sister; and Kurt Streit and Umberto Chiummo as the rebels who have taken over the country.
