Joan Luxton's Children's Theatre Company

on BBC Television

View in Radio Times

in a programme of mimed and dramatic compositions to traditional music.
With Joan Luxton, Geoffrey Wincott, Norman Shelley, John Gatrell, Warren Jenkins, Maud Jolliffe, Elfrida Burgiss, Mary Ramey, Brember Wills, Patrick Gover, Arthur Goullet and Jack Williams.
Accompanied by The Television Orchestra Trio

This company was formed in the autumn of 1927. The idea was for West End actors and actresses to squeeze in a show for children between a matinee and an evening performance. This they did for four years at a small theatre in the West End of London, getting nothing for it but small expenses. Although the company has no headquarters now, it still carries on the good work, and every year a real children's pantomime is produced at the Embassy Theatre.
