Lifeline: Schizophrenia in Children

on BBC Television

Schizophrenia, which is one of the most common kinds of severe mental illness in adults, occasionally starts in early childhood. When this happens the parents find great difficulty in communicating with the child, who seems cut off from them.
Tonight, the Consultant Psychiatrist and a specialist in child psychiatry examine the special problems presented by the autistic child and discuss them with a parent.
