Transatlantic aviator Andre Jurieu creates a national scandal by proclaiming his disappointment that the woman he loves, Christine La Chesnaye, has not met him at the airport. She regards him as merely a good friend, and her husband, impressed, breaks off his relationship with his mistress. But the intervention of a mutual friend threatens to cause mayhem at the Chesnayes' country house party.
