From Birmingham, Monty Don presides over the fifth annual contest to find the country's best amateur gardener, taking place over four days. The five contestants have a brief to design a show garden based on a novel chosen by the public from The Big Read's top 100 - and in addition they face judging on their own gardens at home, and on two quizzes.
The panel of adjudicators comprises Adam Pasco , editor of BBC Gardeners' World magazine, Chelsea exhibitor
