Huck was hiding on his island but the townsfolk, thinking he was dead, held a memorial service for him. Jim, the slave, also had a misunderstanding and, thinking he was going to be sold, ran away. Huck discovered him and suggested they build a raft and escape together to a free state where Jim need no longer be a slave. A storm starts, and they have to shelter in a cave.
