Memphis
'Rock 'n' roll is just like cooking,' says our shy and retiring gastronaut. 'You get a group of basic ingredients for seasoning, like peppers, celery and onions, you throw in some hot spices and a few bits of meat, and you get something delicious.
Someone in Memphis did just that with music. He took a little jazz, a great dollop of blues, stirred in with gospel and sprinkled liberally with country and western, and out popped rock 'n' roll - probably the most powerful influence on our lives since the cordless shaver.'
