Turn of the century Venice: in need of a complete rest, famous composer Gustav von Aschenbach arrives at the Lido. He finds the city in the grip of disease, but soon becomes fascinated by Tadzio, a young boy whose exquisite beauty disturbs the composer and awakens in him passions that ultimately lead to tragedy.
