A novel by John P. Marquand adapted as a serial in twelve parts by H. Oldfield Box
7 — ' The World of Tomorrow '
Produced by Wilfrid Grantham
Jeffrey Wilson and Madge Wilson 's weekend visit to Fred and Beckie's pretentious menagerie in Connecticut is over. And back again in New York, Jeffrey is still obsessed by the feeling that disaster is imminent-still appalled by the contrast between the everyday life of the city and the war situation (October, 1940) over in Europe. His friend, Minot Roberts , with his clear-cut code, thinks that America should have been in the fight from the beginning. But Minot has no personal attachments to worry him. For Jeffrey, whose son Jim is of military age, the issue is not so simple.
The play which Jesse Fineman has been rehearsing (starring Marianna Miller ) is due to open in Boston for a short trial run; and Jeffrey, as Jesse's play-doctor, has promised to accompany him there for the opening week of it.
