East: Dying for a Reason

on BBC Two England

Documentary series that focuses on issues concerning the Asian community.

The Asian community in Britain is suffering a rise in deaths from heart attacks at a time when nationally the figure is falling. Professor David De Bono, from Glenfield Hospital in Leicester, fears that as Leicester's Asian population ages, the number of heart attacks within this community could double. East follows ambulance crews and paramedics in Leicester as they deal with the daily toll of heart disease, and examines possible reasons for the disturbing rise.
