The Jet Stream by P. A. Sheppard , F.Inst.P.
Professor of Meteorology Imperial College, London
During the war American pilots flying at thirty thousand feet reported that they had encountered winds reaching nearly three hundred miles an hour. These reports led to the discovery of streams of air moving at high speed for thousands of miles in the upper atmosphere-the so-called jet streams. In this talk Professor Sheppard deals with this new meteorological phenomenon and its importance to the weather forecaster.
