Boop-Oop-a-Doop!

on BBC Two England

In 1930, at 1600 Broadway, New York City, a movie legend was born: Betty Boop emerged out of the inkwell of animators Max and Dave Fleischer. This fascinating documentary, narrated by Steve Allen , traces Betty from her supporting role as Bimbo's poodle girlfriend to screen siren and the movies' longest-lasting sex symbol. Classic cartoons, from recently-restored negatives, are included together with some archival footage of Cab Calloway, Helen Kane , Louis Armstrong , Mae Coestel and Rudy Vallee.
