Viva Zimbabwe
Thomas Mapfumo, one of Africa's most innovative pop musicians, describes the emergence in Zimbabwe of a unique style of 'chimurenga' dance music, based on Shona rhythms and the hypnotic sound of the 'mbira' thumb piano. Stella Chiweshe , one of the first women to play the mbira, has joined the ranks of the country's pop musicians while Zimbabwe's Christians have found their own musician, gospel singer Machanic Manyeruke.
