What is it that is 4 inches long, eats one-and-a-half times its weight each day, and turns Into a swarm that can spread over 1,000 square miles? Answer: a locust.
In one day a big swarm can destroy 400,000 people's food for a whole year. This film shows the last plague of desert locusts in Africa Set in Sudan, Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa, it tells the day-to-day story of where the plague started, why it spread, and how the natural history of the locust nearly combined with the effects of the wars and revolution to produce a locust plague that could have affected one-fifth of the world.
