Childbirth ought to be the most natural and satisfying experience in a woman's life. Yet increasingly we hear complaints that our maternity services are making it a very mechanical and inhumane procedure. Two of the subjects about which there is most concern are ' production-line induction of labour and whether it's best to give birth at home or in hospital.
