Pilgrimage

on BBC Two England

This programme shows the greatest pilgrimage of all -the Hajj. Every year millions of Muslims from all over the world converge on Mecca, the sacred centre of the Islamic faith. A group of pilgrims are followed from their suburban mosque in Manchester, their farewell prayers and those of their community are witnessed, and the pilgrims' hopes and aspirations for the journey are heard.
In Mecca all pilgrims merge in a classless brotherhood of faith and follow the pattern of devotion initiated by the prophet Muhammad.
