Warwick Castle

Perched on a rocky bluff above the Avon with its formal gardens and strutting peacocks, Warwick Castle is one of the most picturesque and traditional sites in England.
The recent sale of this superb Castle to Madame Tussaud's for one-and-a-half million pounds, seems in retrospect, sadly inevitable. Upkeep costs were huge and many of the Castle's art treasures had to be dispersed to raise money. Patrick Nuttgens visits the Castle and considers the increasing financial strain of maintaining such a huge structure. P
