Never Look Back
Cecil Lewis made his name with the best-seller Sagittarius Rising. This was about his experiences as an ace pilot in the First World War. But for Lewis, life was only beginning. He has been an old China hand, a founder member of the BBC, a protege of Bernard Shaw, an Oscar-winning writer in Holly-wood and he has written a string of books about his experiences. He now lives in Corfu where we filmed him talking to Peter France.
When Sagittarius Rising was published, Bernard Slaw wrote: ' This is a book which everybody should read.... he is a thinker, a master of words, and a bit of a poet.'
CECIL LEWIS was 80 last Wednesday. This film is a tribute to a remarkable man, based on his autobiography Never Look Back.
