The last of four programmes The Heart of England
' A regional dish is a whole countryside.'
Beef, from white-faced Hereford cattle, and draught beer from Worcestershire hops, should strike right to the heart of every true Englishman. But do they? Are they the same as they used to be? Derek Cooper samples some classic foods in the most English of counties - Hereford and Worcester - and on the way tries Evesham asparagus, Worcester sauce and the strange, boneless and increasingly rare river lampern.
