Gone Tomorrow: 2: For Want of a Horse

on BBC Two England

A series of six documentary films in which the flavour of a vanishing Britain is captured by Terence Carroll

You don't have to be 100 years old to be able to remember when horses were used for all kinds of work - delivering milk, bread, railway goods, coal, beer, and many other commodities. Today, with heavy motor traffic and lack of stabling, working horses have almost disappeared. This film finds some of the very few that are still to be seen.
