Times Remembered: Frank Lindley

on BBC Two England

Denis Tuohy talks to Frank Lindley

For nearly half a century Frank Lindley worked at a snuff factory in Sheffield. But by the time he signed on there at the age of 20 he reckons he had seen enough of the outside world to last a lifetime. During the Great War he served first in Egypt and later at the Somme. He enlisted again in 1918 for the almost forgotten north Russian campaign in which British forces were allied with the doomed White Russian cause.
