JFK

on BBC Two England

First showing on network television for Oliver Stone's Oscar-winning historical drama, starring Kevin Costner Sissy Spacek and Tommy Lee Jones.

On 22 November 1963, President Kennedy was assassinated, and America was changed for ever. Initially, a nation angry and saddened was satisfied with the guilt of Lee Harvey Oswald. But New Orleans prosecutor Jim Garrison was convinced of a conspiracy, and set out to prove that there was more than one gunman involved. He put forward his case, as dramatised here, in a prosecution of businessman Clay Shaw for complicity in Kennedy's murder. (Timewatch: The Mysterious Career of Lee Harvey Oswald, tomorrow at 2.15pm.)
