As he makes his way northwards, Johnny explores three ancient manufacturing towns - the fascinating 15th-century silk-weaving quarter of Lyons, the medieval flax town of Perouges, and a small town that was built in the 18th century solely for the production of salt. The film ends in the forest and gardens of Fontainebleau.
