One year in Heddington, Wiltshire. A documentary serial in eight parts. 3 : ... And a Stormy New Year
January comes in like a lion, and the old oak by the T-junction becomes unsafe. It has to be felled. But by a slight error it falls on the power cables and farmer Tyler has no electricity at milking time. There's a passionate row at the Village Hall over who should be caretaker. There's bad news on the selling of the Elizabethan flagon, which will raise enough at auction to save the church roof. The Chancellor of the Diocese has referred the matter to a Consistory Court. It means delays, and a greater risk that permission to sell may be withheld.
