A Year in the Life for Thamesmead, Town for Tomorrow June 1968 - June 1969

on BBC Two England

At Erith on the South Bank of the Thames the marshes are to be a wasteland no more. Thamesmead, a new town to house 60,000 people, is in creation.
A project this size may face many problems through the year. Delays due to weather, errors in design, difficulties in management, strikes. How will the contractors cope? Will the young couple hopeful for their new home have the promise kept, or must they wait while a thousand and one problems are solved in the building of 'Thamesmead, Town for Tomorrow'?
