With Donald Macleod.
In 1920 William Walton made his first visit to Italy to stay with the Sitwells in Amalfi, south of Naples, and later visited Florence, Venice, Naples and Sicily. Walton's musical imagination found stimulus through travelling and he frequently stayed with friends abroad while working on his music.
Donald Macleod looks at some of the works which were inspired by these European trips.
