Life after Death
Five dramatised documentaries adapted from the KGB's literary archive by Vitaly Shentalinsky and presented by Professor James Riordan. 5: The Arrested Word: the File on Nikola Klyuev. One of the most important discoveries in the vaults of the KGB was the lost poetry of Nikola Klyuev. Written during the terrible campaign for total collectivisation, these poems are startling and prophetic works.
Despised and denounced by the ranks of Soviet writers, Klyuev was arrested in February 1934 but refused to recant, remaining defiant until his execution in 1937. With
Simon Russell Beale as Klyuev and Jon Strickland as Shivarov.
