Rockit - the Herbie Hancock Story

2/3. Pop-jazz stylist Jamie Cullum celebrates the influential works of jazz pianist, composer and electronic-music pioneer Herbie Hancock , who provides an exclusive interview. This story continues with Hancock leaving the Miles Davis quintet to pioneer a new jazz-funk sound, culiminating in the genre-defying crossover hit album Head Hunters (1973), inspired by both Buddhism and Sly and the Family Stone. Director Michael Winner discusses Hancock's score for his 1974 thriller Death Wish, and Michael Cuscuna recalls Hancock's Oscar-winning work for
Bertrand Tavernier 's 'Round Midnight
(1986). And jazz writer Kevin Le Gendre discusses the impact of I Thought It Was You (1978) -
Hancock's first pop-disco UK hit.
