"The Fabulous Texan"
featuring John Carroll

Dozens of Hollywood films have been made about the American Civil War, when the North fought the South over the question of of the abolition of slavery. Tonight's full length film deals with the aftermath of that terrible and destructive war when the Southern state of Texas finds itself under the control of the ruthless State Police, with Gibson Hart, a shrewd power-mad crook (played by Albert Dekker) in full charge.

Wes Barker (John Carroll) defies Hart's attempt to run a police state and becomes an outlaw, gathering around him a group of genuine patriots and a sprinkling of actual bad men. It is as a result of his struggle with Gibson Hart, however, that democracy comes back to war-torn Texas and the foundations of that oil-rich American state are laid. Based on actual records, the film was produced by Herbert Yates.
