On the eve of Constantinople being taken by the Turks in 1453, it was said by Constantine. the last Emperor of the Eastern Empire : ‘ God forbid that I should live an Emperor without an Empire. As my city falls, I will fall with it.'

Constantinople, which had been the capital of a great Christian empire, fell at last into the hands of invaders from the East-the Mahommedan Turks. You will hear how the Turkish Sultan, Mahommed the Conqueror, captured the city, and what happened to Constantine, the last Emperor.
