For the Schools: Birds in Winter: 5: The Battle for Survival

on BBC Television

Filmed and introduced by Dick Bagnall-Oakeley.

In wintry weather many birds have a desperate struggle to keep alive. Today's programme illustrates some of the severe conditions of winter and how birds may have to adapt their ways of life to meet them. Man may be able to help wild birds at this time, either by feeding them or, more indirectly, through his activities on farms, on rubbish dumps, and in his gardens.
