Rachel Cameron , a schoolteacher, realises that she has reached the 'exact middle' of her life. She is unmarried, living with and looking after her widowed mother and can find no escape from an increasingly stultifying existence. But Rachel begins to realise that change is possible. This moving film is a deeply-felt portrait of one woman and her personification of the human spirit and its resilience.
