Claudia is a little girl with big dreams.
Feeling misunderstood and longing for adventure she persuades her younger brother, Jamie, to run away with her to New York. There, in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, they become obsessed with a marble statue of an angel.
Determined to prove that the statue was sculpted by Michaelangelo, Claudia and Jamie decide to seek out the statue's donor, a rich, old recluse by the name of Mrs Basil E. Frankweiler ...
