A love story, told against the background of one of the most revolutionary periods of English history, this screen version of Howard Spring's famous novel is also the story of a small group of people striving to achieve an ideal.
Hamer Radshaw is born poor, in a mill-town at the end of the last century. Already determined to escape the squalor of his boyhood, his life takes a turn for the better when he meets the lovely Ann Artingstall.
