Stories from the Quilt. Directors Robert Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman introduce their 'Best
Documentary' 1990 Oscar-winner, which is an extraordinary portrait of the first decade of the Aids epidemic in America. While measuring the inexorable march of the disease with chronological news clips, the film introduces five individuals, through the recollections of friends, lovers and families, who have died of Aids.
The lives, the achievements and the love are all amalgamated in the stunning Aids Memorial Quilt which has helped the bereaved come to terms with their loss. Covering 15 acres and still growing, the quilt is made up of thousands of panels, each of which represents one person.
Narrated by Dustin Hoffman. Music by Bobby McFerrin. * DOCUMENTARY: page 11
