The Limits of Licence
Presented by John Eidinow
The Government is setting up a major committee of inquiry to review current attitudes to obscenity, pornography, and censorship, and the legislation which affects them.
There are those who argue that artistic freedom is already being curtailed. Others see dangers in unbridled licence. Most are agreed that the law as it stands is discredited and abused.
How are standards established and by whom? Can the law cope with matters of taste and morality?
