Piltdown Man Hoax: Days That Shook the World

On 20 November 1953, news breaks that one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the century is an elaborate hoax. Heralded as the "missing link" between ape and man and proof of Darwin's theory of evolution, the remains of the earliest human being - known as "Piltdown Man" - were revealed to be a cleverly constructed forgery.
