The World About Us: Down on the Factory Farm

on BBC Two England

An investigation into the welfare of farm animals in Britain.
When most of us think of a farm, we imagine contented animals in beautiful surroundings. But that image is fast disappearing: many animals now live indoors. It's been called factory-farming, and animal welfare groups claim it's cruel. But the farming industry says the intensive methods are inevitable if we want cheap, plentiful food.
"Sober and sensitive." (Daily Telegraph) "This vivid documentary is a shocker."
