Musician of the Year competition. Collins himself is no stranger to the series: he won the woodwind prize in the first televised competition at the age of 16. Since that early triumph,
Collins has worked as favoured soloist with the London
Sinfoniettaandthe
Philharmonia, the BBC Welsh Symphony and the London
Chamber Orchestras; he also has his own ensemble, London Winds. His students this week are clarinettist Elaine Cocks , 20, alto saxophonist Andrew McNeill , 19, and flautist Mary Owen , 17. Presented by Sarah Greene.
